Cocktail Making 101

Join us on the second Tuesday of every month for a special cocktail class.

Step behind the bar and into the groove at Highland Underground for Cocktails 101 for an intimate bartending experience limited to just 12 guests.

You'll learn how to craft two signature cocktails while enjoying curated small bites throughout the evening.

Hosted by Highland Underground General Manager, Jake Humburg, this hands-on class offers an inside look into the techniques, flavors, and creativity behind our cocktail program. Jake has been recognized multiple times by the Iowa Restaurant Association for excellence in cocktail competitions and has helped shape the beverage program and operations at Highland Underground since its opening in 2025.

Whether you’re a cocktail enthusiast, date-night planner, or just looking for a unique night out in Des Moines, Cocktail Making 101 is designed to be approachable and interactive.

Private Event Rentals

Reservations

We accept reservations for parties of 12 or more. Highland Underground otherwise operates primarily on a first-come, first-served basis.

Happy Hour Group Reservations

Ideal for networking events, corporate gatherings, birthday celebrations and casual group outings.

  • Capacity: Typically 40–60 guests

  • Availability: Tuesday through Friday, 3–6 p.m.
