Yes. Per Des Moines city code, guests under 21 may visit until 9 p.m. when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please note that Highland Underground is a cocktail and fondue bar featuring glassware and hot fondue pots, so parental discretion is advised.

Yes. We offer a rotating selection of mocktails along with non-alcoholic beer options.

Yes. Our front entrance stairwell is equipped with a seated stair lift. Upon arrival, please ring the doorbell located above the stair lift seat, and a member of our team will assist you.

While we offer select dairy-free appetizers, we do not currently offer vegan or dairy-free fondue.

That’s intentional. Highland Underground was designed to encourage conversation, atmosphere and slowing down for a while.

The building was formerly home to Klein’s Department Store, a longtime Highland Park institution. The concept, menu design and storytelling are meant to honor that history and the era that inspired the concept.

Yes. Many of the vintage pieces displayed throughout the space are available for purchase. They are supplied by our neighbors at Divine Times Vintage.
